Born on March 16, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lauren Helen Graham grew up in Northern Virginia. Her first paid acting job was in high school, where she starred in a video about Planned Parenthood. She graduated Langley High school, continued her studies at Barnard College with a degree in English and finished a Master’s Degree in Acting at the Southern Methodist University, Texas. Since her parents divorced when she was five, Lauren Graham grew up only with her father.

Upon the completion of her education, Lauren Grahammoved to New York, where she waited tables. In 1995, she moved to Hollywood in hopes of jumpstarting her career. Although she was aiming for the big screen, Lauren Graham landed numerous guest-starring roles on prime time TV. She featured in short-lived sitcoms, including “Townies” and “Lush Life”.

Around 1996 and 1997, Lauren Graham became a regular guest on a few NBC hit shows. In “Third Rock from the Sun”, Lauren played a graduate student who caught the eye of Dick. In “Caroline in the City”, she played a role as Richard’s girlfriend and in Seinfeld, Graham played Jerry’s speed-dial ranking girlfriend. She also guest-starred in an episode of “Law & Order” and played an efficiency export on “Newsradio”.

It was only in 2000 that Lauren Graham landed her biggest role as the TV icon Lorelai Gilmore of the “Gilmore Girls”, which immediately launched her to stardom. In the 2001 Golden Globe Awards, Graham received a nomination for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series with her role in the Gilmore Girls. Unable to leave the small screen, Lauren Graham continued to appear as guest stars in two episodes of “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and “Celebrity Poker Showdown”. Amazingly, Graham is one of the most frequent guests of “The Ellen Degeneres Show”, appearing eight times to date.
